Let's get right to the meat of your curiosity... Jackie Chan is not the young guy he used to be, so the crazy edged action he built a reputation on as a younger Chan is not quite there. Thankfully, director Campbell doesn't try to pretend and replicate Chan's youthful mode, but rather, accepts that we have an older action hero in our midst and plays accordingly.
And because Campbell accepts who he has in the film, despite some curious motivations that didn't feel right, the story picks up through the acts and gets enjoyable.
Act one has the motivational moment, but Chan's character seems out of place, trying to find out who did this terrible thing to his daughter. LEAVE IT TO THE COPS. But for whatever reason, he doesn't. He bugs the cops then oddly, he picks on a politician to find out who was responsible for his daughter's death.
It did not make sense to me at all.
Act two started showing what talents his character has when he starts to... motivate... yea, that's it, motivate the folks that he thinks has the information he needs.
The end of act two and into the beginning of act three is when we are finally told about what makes him tick and he gets down to business.
It was a slow start that paid off for sticking with it, but I'm not sure I totally agree with the IMDb of 7.0/10.
